It’s just shy of one month from Canada Day, but now’s the time to get your RV in shape.

This year’s celebrations mark the country’s 150th birthday, and local campsites throughout the province will be packed! It’s important to start planning--and packing--so you don’t get stuck at home. Since this is the biggest Canada Day event the country has ever seen, many people are expected to camp out in their RVs.

Once you’ve found a place to stay, there’s plenty to do in and around Kamloops on July 1st. Many parks are hosting all-day festivities, with food, entertainment, and fireworks to match. Here are the best three places to check out this Canada Day:

Riverside Park, Kamloops, B.C

Riverside Park is home to some major Canada Day celebrations in Kamloops. Festivities kick off early at 9:00 a.m and wrap up around 10:00 p.m. Kamloops Art Council’s Art in the Park has been running for more than 40 years, and will return for this year’s event. Almost 30,000 people attend every year, and the event includes a full day of exhibitions, demonstrations, performances, and art sales. More than 100 vendors had their work on display last year, and this year’s turnout is expected to be even bigger! Riverside Park is a twenty-minute drive from Kamloops RV Park. Located right next to the BC Wildlife Park, this campground is minutes from downtown Kamloops, and features amazing amenities like world-class fishing, golfing, and swimming.

Canada 150, Kelowna, B.C

Festivals Kelowna is a non-profit in Kelowna, B.C that produces free outdoor events for the public to enjoy. This year for Canada’s 150th birthday, the organization will host the day’s festivities in Waterfront Park. There will be more than 50 events, activities, and performances, including some new ones that are exclusive to the 150th birthday theme. Food vendors, local artisans and musicians, and performers will be there, with non-stop entertainment well into the evening. The Hiawatha RV Park is just ten minutes from Waterfront Park, meaning you could even catch some fireworks from the comfort of your luxury RV, instead of setting up those lawn chairs and fighting crowds for a good view! In the heart of the Okanagan Valley, Hiawatha RV Park is the perfect spot for some long weekend relaxation--complete with a heated pool and spa.

Canada Place, Vancouver, B.C

Known as western Canada’s premier Canada Day event for 30 years, it’s no surprise then, that Canada’s 150th is going to be a big day. This year’s celebration will be a two-day event held at Canada Place. An award-winning event, there will be five stage performances featuring Sam Roberts, Fefe Dobson, Emerson Drive, Hey Ocean!, Dragonette, Madeline Merlo, The Matinee, and many more, a citizenship ceremony welcoming 150 new Canadians, tons of exhibits, events, and activities, and an incredible fireworks display. The Burnaby Cariboo RV Park and Campground is a twenty-five minute drive from Canada Place, and has been rated as being in the top 3% for the best RV park amenities in the country! It’s a great place to unwind after a long day of festivities, and is surrounded by plenty of nature.
