Start Planning Your Spring Roadtrip

Although it might feel far away, but before you know it, spring will be blossoming in Kamloops. Better get ready to hit the road in your RV or Travel Trailer.

Soon, Kamloops RV Park and Sunnyside Heights will be full of familiar faces as happy campers make their way to RV parks once more.

In celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday, Parks Canada has issued a free Discovery Pass to all Canadians, granting free access to all national and provincial parks across the country. If you’ve ever wanted to visit Herald Provincial Park to take a dip in a canoe, or Ellison Provincial Park for a mini holiday, this spring is the perfect time!

Residents of British Columbia know that we live in one of the most spectacular provinces in Canada, with a vast landscape that opens up a world of opportunities for everybody. Whether you like gazing at the mountains, swimming in lakes, hiking nature trails, or exploring a shady forest, the parks you’ll find here are the perfect destination for a trip in your RV.

To get you thinking about your spring road trip, we’ve outlined three of the hottest spots in British Columbia--all within a five-hour drive from Kamloops’ city centre.

GO Fest: Whistler’s Great Outdoors Festival

Weekend warriors, get ready! There's no better time to start using your new RV. The aim of GO Fest is to get everybody outdoors again. Summer and winter meet during the month of May. Be sure to pack your RV or Travel Trailer with all your outdoor toys; those in attendance can enjoy unlimited opportunities for bike riding, golfing, water sports, and even snow sport, as snow still lingers on Whistler’s famous mountain range. GO Fest 2016 hosted a series of outdoor concerts which make those spring nights pleasant and enjoyable. A concert line-up is expected to be announced soon. This year’s GO Fest will take place over the May Long Weekend, from May 19th to 22nd. Packed with arts and culture, sports, music and great food, the event is one you can’t miss! To get there, you’ll need to take the Sea to Sky Highway (highway 99) to Whistler. Once you’re here, you can plan your stay at the Whistler RV Park and Campground.

Cloverdale Rodeo and Country Fair

Carnival treats, bucking broncos, fair rides, great music and so much more await you in Surrey, B.C at the Cloverdale Rodeo and Country Fair. This is a great trip to take with your family or a close group of friends. Running from May 19th until May 22nd, the exhibition is a fun way to spend the long weekend with your family. The rodeo is just under twenty minutes from the Dogwood Campgrounds and RV Park, and a fifteen-minute drive to Peach Arch RV Park, which means you can spend the day checking out the rodeo, and still enjoy some marshmallows and camping under the stars at night in your RV. Getting to the rodeo is about a three-and-a-half hour drive from Kamloops. Pack accordingly for the weekend and enjoy a comfortable stay in the luxuries your new RV has to offer.

Bici Gusti Gourmet Ride

The best road trips include a mix of adventure and a tonne of good food. While you might enjoy those hotdogs and marshmallows in the evening, over the course of your trip, you’ll probably miss a good home-cooked meal. The Bici Gusti Gourmet Ride takes place in Whistler from May 19th to May 21st and was designed for those who love to cycle, and also love to eat! Those who choose to enjoy the festival will take a spin through a 70 kilometre route along the Whistler and Callaghan Valleys with a group of riders. At the end of the ride, you’ll be treated to a gourmet dish served by an award-winning chef who picks ingredients throughout the 70-kilometre route to incorporate into the dish. More information will be released closer to the date, but your RV offers plenty of space to pack your bikes should you choose to come along for the ride. Spring weather in Whistler is perfect for cycling, so even if you choose to skip the festival, many great trails and parks await you, whether you’re looking for world-class mountain biking or a casual ride on the paved Valley Trail boardwalk. Plus, you can still make your very own fancy meal when you take advantage of the amazing kitchens included in our luxury RVs, like the Surveyor, Cedar Creek, and Wildwood. Enjoy some fresh air and feel at home in your RV at the Riverside RV Resort and Campground, where you can continue the outdoor fun with volleyball, hiking, biking and more.
