If you are one of the lucky few who takes advantage of the amazing four-season camping available in British Columbia, then you know how important it is to have an RV that is truly all-season ready. At South Thompson RV, our extensive knowledge and inventory of RV brands and models means that we can help you find a vehicle that will truly last you through 365-days of adventuring.

RV Must-Haves Survive the Cold

Although most RVs are designed to function and keep occupants comfortable anywhere between 10-30 degrees, we know that Kamloops can surprise us with weather that falls well outside of that range. If you’re planning on enjoying winter camping this year, your RV will need components like appropriate insulation, heating and cooling systems, ventilation, wall structure and windows. For example: although large windows can help make your trailer feel more bright and open, they are also a prime spot for heat to escape and condensation to build-up; not a big deal if you’ll only be camping through the spring and summer, but if you have plans for a four-season lifestyle then you may want to consider where you can sacrifice some lighting in place of well-insulated walls. Another necessity is insulated flooring, and a heated and enclosed underside where the tanks are held. RVs are raised off the ground, which creates a wind and snow corridor that leaves the underside of your trailer particularly susceptible to winter conditions. There is nothing worse than waking up to a frozen water tank, so keeping the underbelly of your RV above freezing temperatures is vital.

South Thompson proudly stocks trustworthy brands like Arctic Wolf, who have years of experience creating vehicles that can handle winter adventuring, and four-season certified models such as Black Rock 25RLS and Extreme Cold Weather Alpha Wolf T26DBH.

Limitless Benefits and Opportunities

A major benefit of four-season camping is that you don’t have to worry about preparing your RV for months of inactivity during winter storage. If you’ll be using your RV regularly, you can take small steps to keep it safe and functioning while it’s not in use, such as parking it in a warm garage, running a dehumidifier regularly to remove moisture from the air, covering it with a tarp if we are expecting bad weather and running the heating system regularly. Our Parts Department will be happy to walk you through our inventory of accessories, like space heaters, thermal blankets and portable coffee makers, that will help you and your RV survive and thrive through a season of winter adventuring!
